Dr. Prakash Ghimire joined LSUA in Fall 2016. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Auburn University, Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics from ICTP, and M.Sc. in mathematics and B.Sc. in mathematics, both from Tribhuvan University. His research areas include Lie Algebra, Lie Groups, and Matrix theory. He has taught various courses that include ³Ô¹ÏÖ±²¥ Algebra, Trigonometry, Business Calculus, Calculus I, II, III, Fundamental of Mathematics, Elementary Differential Equation, Complex Variables, and Abstract Algebra.
Renu Gupta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. She has been teaching mathematics courses for over 30 years. She genuinely enjoys teaching, both for the joy of sharing mathematics with others and for the opportunity to revisit old material and enhance her own understanding. She is confident in her ability to teach a variety of courses. She believes She has been quite successful as a teacher, as evidenced by her positive student evaluations and many unsolicited compliments received from students. She has also received some teaching awards.
Prior to his new appointment, he served as Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for the Office of Academic Affairs in January 2018.In August 2017, Dr. Halpin was appointed Vice Provost and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and has been working for several months on program development and related academic projects on behalf of the university. He is also LSUA’s SACSCOC liaison and played a key role in writing the university’s 2015 Reaffirmation report.
Dr. Halpin earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Greek and Roman Civilization (1987) and a Master of Arts in Modern English and American Literature (1988) from University ³Ô¹ÏÖ±²¥ Dublin, Ireland. He enrolled in LSU’s graduate program in English in 1989 and received his Ph.D. in English in 1995.
Dr. Halpin began work as a faculty member in English at LSUA in August 1994 and currently holds the rank of Professor.
In addition, he has served in a variety of administrative positions at the university. From 2006-2007 he was Interim Chair of the Department of Arts, English and Humanities. In 2007 he was appointed Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs; in that role he oversaw academic advising for new students, counseling and testing services, and student life. He says that those years were among the most satisfying of his career, and that he thoroughly enjoying working with and helping students.
Robert Harper is Director of Theatre at Louisiana State University of Alexandria. A native of Cheneyville, Robert began his theatre career over forty years ago as a performer with City Park Players in Alexandria. He holds advanced degrees in theatre and music, and has worked on professional, regional, and community stages across the country, including Los Angeles Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Baltimore Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Florida State Opera. At LSUA, his productions include The Fantasticks, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Doubt, God of Carnage, Boeing Boeing, and The Lion in Winter. Some of his favorite roles have included Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, John Adams in 1776, The Baker in Into the Woods, The Jester in Once Upon A Mattress, Falstaff in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Bottom in Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the title role in Macbeth.
